Uses
Moxifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, weakness, or trouble sleeping may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Precautions
Before taking moxifloxacin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: diabetes, heart problems (such as recent heart attack), joint/tendon problems (such as tendonitis, bursitis), liver disease, mental/mood disorders (such as depression), myasthenia gravis, nerve problems (such as peripheral neuropathy), seizure disorder, conditions that increase your risk of seizures (such as brain/head injury, brain tumors, cerebral atherosclerosis), blood vessel problems (such as aneurysm or blockage of the aorta or other blood vessels, hardening of the arteries), high blood pressure, certain genetic conditions (Marfan syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome).
When not to use
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Mofilox tablet 400 mg 5’s, other quinolones, or any other inactive ingredient present along with this medicine.
Avoid if you have a past history of tendinitis or tendon rupture after using Mofilox tablet 400 mg 5’s
Avoid if you have a past history of myasthenia gravis or family history of myasthenia gravis.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh score: C) and in patients with transaminase levels greater than 5 times the upper limits of normal since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor about the potential benefits and risks before deciding to take this medicine.

Breast-feeding
Use of this medicine is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding due to the adverse effect on the development of the infant's joints. Use only if clearly needed under the supervision of the doctor. Monitoring of undesired effects like diarrhea, diaper rash is necessary.
